Chocolate Hazelnut Energy Balls

by | Mar 31, 2019 | Appetizers and Snacks, Dessert | 0 comments

These chocolate hazelnut energy balls have all the flavour of a Ferrero Rocher without the gunky ingredients. I love trying to recreate popular treats into their healthier versions. These energy balls are particularly great because they offer fibre, fat, and protein all in one little bite! Oh, and if you’re a serious chocolate lover like me, this gives you another healthy way to enjoy it!

Enjoy these energy balls pre-workout for some quick energy, as an afternoon snack or with some espresso in the morning (my personal favourite).

Chocolate Hazelnut Energy Balls

approximately 12 balls

1 cup raw hazelnuts

1 cup pitted dates

2 tbsp cacao

2 tbsp coconut oil

1-2 tsp filtered water

optional: shredded coconut for coating

1. Process nuts until they resemble a small crumble, but not totally fine.

2. Add pitted dates, cacao and coconut oil and process on high until well mixed.

3. Slowly add water until the mixture starts to stick together.

4. If desired, roll the balls in shredded coconut to elevate the balls into a fancy looking truffle!
