Gone are the days of Head and Shoulders for me. Back when I had pretty bad dandruff in high school and university, like most other people with dandruff, I used Head and Shoulders and other dandruff shampoos to get rid of my flaky scalp issue. It didn’t occur to me that the scabby sores (sorry for that visual, but it’s true) that were appearing on my scalp were actually caused by my shampoo and conditioner!

What a ride it has been! They say every pregnancy is different and as I’m writing I’m currently in my third trimester looking back at all three trimesters realizing that each trimester feels like a different pregnancy. The human body is so fascinating and each day I’m so surprised to see and feel all of the changes that come with pregnancy.
We are well into the year and you may or may not be working on some resolutions. If you are, good for you! I hope they are realistic and promote your health and wellness. If you haven’t come up with any self-improvement goals, not to worry. It’s completely NOT necessary. Seriously. If you are content with how things are going for you and you foresee a gradual incline of personal and professional growth on the horizon–congrats. Personally, I like to make goals for the year after reflecting on the year that has passed. I like to practice gratitude for all the lessons I have learned, the places I have been to and the people I have come to know.
You recently made changes to your lifestyle and the benefits are showing—you feel amazing! You have been doing your best to stick to your (new) routine and it has been hard work to even maintain a routine. Everything seems to be going well with your new lifestyle, but Life seems to have other plans for you. Out of the blue, an unexpected event happens; a death in the family, your spouse loses their job, your friend is getting divorced and needs a place to stay, you got a promotion at work which includes more responsibility and devoted time but you can’t keep up—does any of this sound like you? If not in these specific circumstances, have you ever had a time in you life where everything seemed to be going well and then all of a sudden you get side swiped and your sense of normalcy is almost non-existent?
Although Winter is technically done, the chilly weather can’t seem to decide whether it should stay or go. Thankfully, there has been a good amount of sunshine this past winter which can definitely have a positive affect on your mood! Even though I’m a winter baby (my birthday is January 25!) and I love some cozy nights in with a good snowfall, like everyone else I start to feel at this point of the year that it’s time for a change. Whether that means a change in season, giving yourself new challenges (how are those New Year’s Resolutions? wink wink, nudge nudge), or going on a trip to a sunny destination, it’s important that you check in with yourself. What does that mean? Well, a variety of things, actually.
Some weeks ago, I had a funny encounter in a store on the Danforth. I had a great day up to that point; the weather was lovely, I walked all around the Danforth, took in a lot of sunshine and felt energized. After doing my walk about the store, I went to get in line and noticed there was a man in front of me who had stepped outside of the line-up to look at something. No longer lined up, I walked past him to the line-up.
